SolarHub and Solarize Projects unite power in Athens, Greece.

On the 3rd day of the SolarHub GA, February 19th, SolarHub and Solarize united for a joint policy event.

In the morning session, we kicked off with Dr. Nikolaos Tsongidis and Dr. Vasiliki Drosou, who framed the objectives with a focus on synergy-building. This was followed by contributions from Dr. Diego Martinez (EU-SOLARIS), Maria Christoula (GSRI), and Ana Maria Aricha Yanguas (MICIU), who mapped the broader policy ecosystem within Greece and Spain.

In the roundtable moderated by Dr. Marios Georgiou (WE4FOOD i) , alongside Dr. Derek Baker (SolarHub,HelioHelix Coordinator), Dr. Pedro Horta, Krzysztof Mieszkowski, Elias Papanicolaou, and Lucia Torlai, we examined CST infrastructure gaps, innovation pathways, and Greece’s potential to lead in European decarbonization. The discussion reflected a deliberate alignment of policy, research, industry, and societal impact.

During the afternoon session, we welcomed the B2B event, Connecting the Greek and Turkish Solar Ecosystems, orchestrated by GÜNDER, CRES, and CERTH.

The session aimed to match Greek and Turkish partner collaboration both from the consortium and external to the consortium as part of expanding engagement within our Athens ecosystem. We were encouraged by the strong interest in the company pitching session, which demonstrated clear potential for future collaborations and more concrete exploitation actions emerging from joint efforts.

The synergies of the SolarHub and Solarize projects were important to support an aligned vision for policy needs in the solar thermal and solar energy sector.
